Maggy and Eric

The topic of this wedding could be When style weds the elegance, thanks to the perfect taste of the bride. And althought the wedding was in Prague in Sept 2010, is still great inspiration for many of our brides.

Maggy and Eric live both in the United States,  but Maggy has origins in Polland. The beauty and elegance of Prague was the main reason why to hold their wedding right here. The couple arrived to Prague one year before the wedding to choose the reception venue and meet the vendors. Based on their wishes wse prepared a list of recommended venues and vendors, just the church was done from the beg – their hearts did beat on St. Ludmila church, stunning catholic church. And for the wedding reception won hotel Intercontinental and its restaurant Zlata Praha, because couple wanted to offer their guests combination of a great food and amazing view.

We all knew that even if t rains, we will still be able to enjoy amazing view of Prague. Which unfortunatelly really happened, as the weather wasn´t nice on that day…

Maggy chose vintage chic theme, which was perfectly tailored to the flowers and all decor, like broches, tableclothes, china, and frames that were used not only for the pictures of both families, but also for the table names. All this together reflected old world and glamour of Prague, cream colour was accompanied by light pale pink.

When choosing her dress, Maggy was also inspired by vintage style, her lace cream colour dress were pefect with long cathedral veil, vintage brooch on the dress as in the hair, as well as earings. All bridesmaids were dressed in amazing long pink dresses, again accompanied by vintage necklasses, pearls and brooches, that Maggy bought online and were also used in all bridal and bridesmaids bouquets. Stylist put fresh flowers into bridemsaid´s hair and little flowergirl was pleased by a wreath and basket with rose petals.

To find the right outfit for groom was easier – he, best man and groomsmen all wore classic black suit with white shirts and creamy ties. To match the style with dominant pink, Eric got from ?aggy cool pink socks, which played its role at a few pictures :-) .

All the flowers and decor was absolutelly stunning, as Maggy took so much effort and spend so much time on it. Bridal bouquet was in romantic style, made from english and traditional roses and peonies, accompanied by a greenery. Bridesmaids worn bouquets made from pale pink and cream roses, accompanied by hydrangea and greenery. Eric wore pale pink corsage, bet men, groomsman and both fathers got cream to be slightly different.

Almost 70 wedidng guests met at hotel Inrtercontinental for a glass of champagne before  the ceremony and escorted to the church by minibuses. Black and white limo was prepared for groom and his party and also for bridal party. Maggy with her parents took her way to the church in chic historical Rolls royce.

All got seated, nervous groom standing at the oltar with best men – wedding ceremony could begin. By the choir song entered first flowr girls, bridesmaids and as last bride with her father. Traditional catholic ceremony was captured by cameraman and 2 photogrpahers, who of course captured since the morning all important moments.

Church was also decorated very elegant and stylish – both sides of the aisle were sprinkled by white rose petals and bordered by tall cylinders with floating candles. Just to put water into the vases took hours…Cornets with rose petals were thrown to the newlyweds when they left the church…

As the weather was against us, we moved short after the ceremony to the boat, where guests enjoyed 2 hours cruise, drinks, canapees and also tallented pianist. Maggy and Eric did enjoy in the meantime romantic photosession with great photographer Stepan Vrzala. The great advantage was the presence of 2 photographers, one was always with the couple and the other one captured all other guests and moments.

All the guests were totally amazed when entered to the restaurant Zlata Praha. Nobody did expect such a great view! Maggy asked florist to creat a cushion from hydrangeas, on which we put name tags. Tall vase with orchids was at the entrance together with wedding photos of both parents and Maggy also wished wish tree – guests wrote their messages to the little cards which were tied on a tall branch in a vase. Romantic atmosphere was also maken by bird cage for cards.

Wedding cocktail was held on the terrace, where canapees, champagne, italian wine and cocktails were served. The paernts of bride welcomed newlyweds by a traditional polish costum – offered them shot of water and fresh bread to keep their modesty.

Pretty unattractive marquee got totally different look by using drapings, created into the lounge area. Draping was also used inside the restaurant to cover wooden wall that didn´t match the overall design. Ntohing was given to an acident, everything was perfectly planned into smallest detail.  Box with pashminas was prepared for ladies for a cold, we put to the toilets necessary things like deodorants, chewing gumms, combs, hair sprays, but also dress cleaners in case of any accident.

After the welcome drink guests were seated at their tables, which were lovely decorated by vases with fresh cut flowers and lots of candles. Guests were seated at the round tables for 8, newlyweds had their own table just for two of them.

After the speaches starters arrived (smoked salmon on a lettuce bad), followed by dumpkin soup wth organic yoghurt and then sorbet from green apple. As a main course guests could choose between cock on a red wine with butter gnochi and raisins, Fillet mignon with garden vegetabls, mashed potatoes and vegetable chips or grilled seabass marinated in pastiss, baked fennel cake, lobster butter sauce and grilled shalotte. Romantic atmosphere was underlined by pianist.

Wedding cake was amazing – 5 layers, with lots of fresh flowers between. Each layer had a different taste – chocolate with raspberries, vanilla with fresh strawberries, lemon sponge cake, nut cake and chocolate with ganache.

Wedding band commenced with a first dance, followed by other/father dance and continued for a few more hours. Each leaving guest got a paper box which could fill with sweets from the dessert bar. There were lots of sweets like macarons, chocolate pralines etc.

Monica and Eric

The first wedding I would like to write about belongs also to one of the most beautiful weddings we have ever organized and I will always stay in our hearts.

Althought most of our clients are living abroad, Monica and Eric moved from Mexico to stay here in Prague. They are lovely couple who lives in a house with their 4 children and after 10 years decided to say their I do´s and get married.

Simce our first meeting we knew there is connection between us and we were hired directly. The couple wanted some nice castle where all the guests could stay overnight, top class service was a must as well as vicinity to Prague. I offered them a few castles and chateaus and decision was made again very quickly – chateau Mcely. Monica and Eric were pretty flexible with the date, but wanted to let their dreams into the reality soon, but have at least a small chance of a nice weather. As our work started in November 2011, we devided for the closest day last weekend in March.

Chateau Mcely was hired for the entire weekend and because couple wanted absolutelly privacy, we book chateau for exclusive use.

The planning could continue – we came twice to chateau Mcely to taste the food, choose the wine and decide where will be served cocktail before and after the ceremony, reception dinner, and also breakfast, lunch and dinner the next day and breakfast on Sunday. Chateau Mcely is very nice venue and their staff is very professional, I must highlighted Lucie Morozova, who was always helpful and opened to all our ideas. We wanted to enjoy as much as possible the entire chateau, so the dining was planned to different rooms during our stay.

I spend some time at the registry office at Loucen, as the paperwork was pretty difficult, but we all went through it :-) .

Monica decided to buy wedding dress here in Prague, so I arranged meetings at a couple salons, but at the end we found the right dress at the first shop and bought it directly. We also found there nice dresses for 3 bridesmaids, exactly in our colour scheme. One of the pre-wedding weekends couple spent in London where they bought suit for Eric, their 2 sons and also cute dress for little flowergirl.

Monica has really fabulous taste, so to choose the flowers was really simple – we decided for romantic elegant style, focused on details and spring flowers. Florist used ranunculus as a main flower, accompanied by mathiola, hyacinth, tulip and astilbe. The colour theme was pink in different tones, chocolate brown and green. What shall I say – flowers were just amazing!

Monica and Eric were really happy that many their guests will come from far away from Mexico and asked me to plan also activities during the weekend, not to spend time by eating and drinking only :-) . Chateau Mcely has an amazing natural lake, but we knew this will be out of order for end of March, but guests could enjoy jacuzzi, sauna and different massages. We also arranged for them contest in archery for Saturday morning, Mcely offered croquet, petang, bicycles. And for Saturday night we hired casino to come to the chateau and have fun with black jack and roulette.

All was planned, time was running really fast and Friday, March 30th was here! I came to their house early in the morning, we put all luggages to 4 cars, took children and run to Mcely. The other guests were scorted from the hotel in Prague and my colleague Tom look after them there.

Everything was already prepared at Mcely, all vendors were there, so we made a quick check-in and guests could already go and enjoy cocktail in the Golden Room with Prosecco and little nibbles. Stylist was with Monica together with one photographer and cameraman, their colleagues look after the groom and guests in the meantime. Children were very pleased by the chateau and ate all the chocolate we promised them to give to their room :-) .

Just the weather wasn´t perfect, but what could we do – this is something we are not able to affect anyhow, even we would love to!

Short before 3.00 p.m. everybody came to the patio, welcomed by Eric and his brother, who was also the witness. String quartet played lovely clasiscal music and in the meantime bride came down with all children, her sister and father. The planning was really amazing – 5 seconds after bride went from outside to the patio it started to rain, but really heavely!  Althought there was microphone, at the beginning we couldn´t hear very well, as the rain was bumbing! Lot of love for the newlyweds! But soon it stopped and we did really enjoy these romantic moments. After congratulations newlyweds were sprinkled by rose petals and celebrations could begin. During the apero photographer took some group pictures and especially guests from Mexico did enjoy happy songs played by string quartet.

2 hours break spent most of the guests by relax in their room, while newlyweds continued taking pictures at the chateau. Only kids swere never tired and had always sooo much energy, maybe from the chocolate….

At 8.00 p.m. we all met at lovely decorated Plate hall and after few speaches dinner was served. As a gurman Eric carefully choose each course (6 together) and picked special wine for it. Especially French champagne was amazing! We were all talking and having great fun, but at the end of the dinner everyone was dying to dance! Special lights created lovely atmosphere for the first dance of the newlyweds, followed by parents dance.

Wedding cake was brought on the dance floor about 20 min after and party continued. Someone left around midnight, someone at 4 in the morning (I was at that group), but there were also a few people who finished at 6 :-) .

I can not forget to mention sweet bar – everyone this year wants to have sweet bar and this was our first one. We have amazing lady making home made sweets, bio butter, real vanilla, and all really delicious! The florist used different vases and plates to put the sweets on and it looked just fantastic! Can´t wait to do it at the next wedding!

Saturday morning was again in a sing of fund and good mood and we all were looking forward to archery! Two medieval dressed men showed us how to hold the arch and after this short training we were divided into 2 groups and contest started – poor fake animals :-) . Unfortunatelly was very cold, otherwise we would spend outside much more time.

Brunch with other delicaties was served after the archery and the rest of the afternoon was free for jacuzzi, sauna, walking, talking or just sleeping :-) . We met again at 8.00 p.m. at the dinner, again very nice buffet,. chateau Mcely did just amazing job!

Casino started at 9.30 p.m. and we loved it! Especially lady at black jack was very nice, funny and did attract everyone to play. We used fake money with a picture of Monica and Eric and finished at 2 in the morning!

Third and last day was quick – after the breakfast arrived bus, all the luggages were given inside and there was time to say goodbye. We were all very happy, because this wedding was really great.

What else to say – I hope you like this text – and I hope Monica and Eric will stay our friends forever!

Mandarin Oriental, Prague

I was thinking which reception venue should I begin with – with my favourite, hotel Mandarin Orienta, Praguel. Located at Nebovidska street, perfect reachable from favourite ceremony location Vrtbovska garden, St. Thomas church, also from the Charles bridge and Prague castle. Hidden by the wall doesn´t look like hotel from outside, but when you enter the courtyard, you will be surprised by the size.

I do not plan to write about things you can find on their websites, but mention the highlights, what we like and what should you be aware of.

There is lovely garden which can be used for a wedding ceremony or welcome drink, surrounded by hotel rooms which have little private garden (so you can expect someone might sit there if weather is nice).

Should the weather be against you, there is great Monastery lounge as an alternative, which I really like and there are fabulous pictures from there. Lounge is big enough for about 120 people for a cocktail, you can also have there your wedding reception at a long table.  However we do prefer Grand Ballroom, as it is really amazing – high ceiling, daily light (street view only), wooden floor and amazing chandeliers. Something we are missing at many hotel premises.

Photo: stepan Vrzala

Food is really delicious there – you can either decide for international cuisine or asian, which they do really well.  I really like their steaks, fish and as already mentioned, asian food. Also, they know how to do the wedding cakes, couple times our brides asked for something unusual and it was always success – like f.e. croquembouche or trouffle cake.

Photo: stepan Vrzala

Please be careful about the wedding music – even there are no restrictions on timing, you have to turn down music a bit after 10.00 p.m., also no music outside after 12.00 a.m.

Photo: stepan Vrzala

Lastly I will tell something abour people working there – I do really like them. Whenever I come there, they are always nice, positive and helpful. Their staff is there basically since the beginning, which is always sign of a good hotel. Should you wish to organise there your wedding, email to Tomas Kapek, he is a real miracle!   Always smiling men who knows a lot about weddings!
